The cultural links between Ireland and the UK were marked in a special ceremony in London yesterday.

Arts Minister Heather Humphreys travelled to the city to meet with key stakeholders from the arts and cultural sector, including designer Orla Kiely and Dexys Midnight Runners frontman Kevin Rowland.

Ms Humphreys presented details of the Creative Ireland Programme, a five-year initiative which aims to place creativity at the centre of public policy, and visited the Irish Cultural Centre in Hammersmith. The centre has been presenting Irish artists for 22 years and has undergone major renovations with financial support from the Government.
