Going for gold: Ruth Negga glitters in ‘Vanity Fair’ shoot
Claire Murphy ·
Irish Oscar hopeful Ruth Negga has made the cover of ‘Vanity Fair’ magazine’s Hollywood issue.
The ‘Loving’ actress has been nominated for the Best Actress award. She has been photographed alongside some of her competition – Natalie Portman and Emma Stone – by Annie Leibovitz.
The three-part cover was unveiled yesterday. Hailed as the wonder women of 2017, Ruth is seen alongside A-listers Natalie Portman, Amy Adams, Lupita Nyong’o, Emma Stone and Dakota Johnson.
Also pictured are sisters Dakota and Elle Fanning, Greta Gerwig, Aja Naomi King and Janelle Monae. Vanity Fair also gave particular mention to the Limerick actress.
“Negga enjoyed the kind of breakthrough year actresses dream of, appearing first on AMC’s Preacher and then in the
quiet biographical drama
Loving, for which she earned an Oscar nomination,” said the magazine.
While the other actresses are wearing blush and nude, Ruth stands out in a spectacular gold figure-hugging dress. The women have 12 Oscar nominations between them and two wins.
Ruth is nominated for her part in Loving, a drama about an interracial couple.
Portman, meanwhile, is nominated for her depiction of iconic First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in biopic Jackie, while Stone is one of the favourites for her part in La La Land.
Also nominated are Meryl Streep for Florence Foster Jenkins and Isabelle Huppert for Elle.
